Tomorrow, from May 10, common people may face problems while taking petrol and diesel at petrol pump. Now most people use UPI payment at the time of payment at petrol pump. Tomorrow you will not be able to pay UPI at the petrol pump. In fact, petrol pump owners in Maharashtra have warned of protests against the freeze of their bank accounts in some cases related to cyber fraud.
According to the TOI news, Uday Lodh of the Federation of Maharashtra Petrol Dealers Association said that if the government does not intervene, the demonstration will affect many districts including Mumbai. This protest in Mumbai may take place for a day on 10 May. Lodh said that the money of cyber fraud was traced in the accounts of some petrol pumps, due to which their accounts were sealed. This causes resentment among the pump owners who depended on digital payment. Many pump owners’ accounts have been freeze in Vidarbha region and protests can begin from there. He made it clear that it is not our responsibility to trace the medium of how the customers were paid at the petrol pump. We only sell fuel, we cannot be convicted.
Preparation to stop cashless payment
Sangh sources said that some petrol pump owners in Nagpur have decided not to accept digital payment from May 10. These pumps will only give petrol and diesel in cash. This is because most of the cases of cyber fraud have been done through digital medium like UPI, Credit and Debit Card.
Angry on bank fee also
Petrol Dealers Association (Mumbai) President Chetan Modi said that this protest is not only about the freeze of the account, but also against the additional fees of banks and companies offering digital payment service. After the payment, less money is reaching the pump owner’s account.
According to sources, at least two petrol pump owners’ accounts have been cheated through fake digital payment, where the payment was made by stolen or cloned UPI IDs and cards. Investigation agencies have considered these pump owners as ‘beneficiaries’, while they say they are innocent. Uday Lodh said that 50-55% of transactions are now cashless and the pump owners do not record who paid.
