He had accuracy in bowling and the ability to swing the ball. Apart from bowling, he had no equal in batting also.

Made debut for Indian team in 1978

Kapil Dev made his ODI debut for the Indian team in the year 1978 and in the same year he made his Test debut for the Indian team. After this, he soon made a permanent place in Team India with his strong performance. He took 434 wickets in 131 Test matches and 253 wickets in 225 ODIs for Team India. When he played his last match in Test cricket in 1994. Then he was the bowler who took the highest number of Test wickets for the Indian team.

West Indies were defeated in the final

In the final of the ODI World Cup 1983, the Indian team had defeated the then strong West Indies. Because under the captaincy of Clive Lloyd, the West Indies team had been winning the World Cup for the last two times and defeating them was like chewing iron. But under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, Team India surprised the whole world by defeating West Indies by 43 runs.

In the ODI World Cup 1983, Kapil Dev played a brilliant inning of 175 runs against Zimbabwe. During this period he hit 16 fours and 6 sixes. His innings is still considered one of the best innings of ODI cricket. The special thing is that no video of this innings is available today. He was the highest run scorer for the Indian team in the ODI World Cup 1983. Then he had scored 303 runs. He had taken 12 wickets from bowling.
