A senior state government official said that of these agreements, Nextgen alone has committed to set up a plant with an investment of Rs 10,000 crore. Nextgen signed an agreement with the Government of Gujarat to set up a compound semiconductor fabrication and opto-electronics plant. Mona Khandar, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, said, “On the first day of the conference, various compromise memories (MoUs) were signed among various stakeholders including various stakeholders, including the state government, which showed a possible investment of Rs 15,000 crore in the semiconductor area.”
American company will also invest
Khandar said that at the inauguration ceremony, American Electronics Manufacturing Company Jeabil India signed an MoU with the Government of Gujarat to set up a silicon photonics manufacturing plant with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. The three-day ‘Gujarat SemiChet Conference’ began on Wednesday at the Mahatma Temple Conference and Exhibition Center in Gandhinagar. According to a government release, an MoU was signed between Tata Electronics and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar for skill growth in the sector of the semiconductor.
Agreement with Tata Group
A tripartite agreement was signed between Tata Electronics and Taiwanese firms PSMC and Hymax Technologies for the upcoming semiconductor chip manufacturing unit of the Indian company in Dholera city of Ahmedabad district. According to the statement, another agreement was signed with Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology (TSMT) to set up a new electronics manufacturing service (EMS) unit with an investment of Rs 500 crore in Gujarat. This investment will create about 1,000 new jobs. During the inauguration ceremony, Keynes Technology performed a Bhoomipujan program of its new OSAT unit at Industrial Center, Sanand in Ahmedabad district. The main manufacturing line of the plant will start production from January 2026.
