National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched a new service, which allows making UPI payments even without an internet connection. Under this service, users can avail offline banking services by dialing the official USSD code *99#. Through this facility, users can easily do things like interbank fund transfer, checking account balance and setting or changing UPI PIN.

How to make payment without internet

  • Dial *99# from the mobile number registered with your bank.
  • Type the corresponding number to select your preferred language from the options visible on the phone screen.
  • Choose the banking service you need, like transferring money, checking balance or viewing transactions.
  • To send money, type ‘1’ and press ‘Send’.
  • Select the method to send money, such as mobile number, UPI ID, saved contact or any other option, and then press ‘Send’.
  • If you have selected the mobile number option then you will have to enter the recipient’s number and then press the send button.
  • Enter the payment amount and press send. Enter your UPI PIN to complete the payment process.
