How many women CM did the country have received so far?

Womens day 2025: Every year 8 March is celebrated worldwide as Women’s Day. This day is especially dedicated to women. Whether it is country or abroad, Indian women have also illuminated the name of India around the world. In such a situation, on the occasion of Women’s Day, we will tell you how many women have taken the post of Chief Minister in different states of the country till now. This list includes the names of many other women from CM Rekha Gupta of Delhi.

List of women chief ministers

  • Sucheta Kripalani- was the leader of the Congress and was the Chief Minister of UP from October 2, 1963 to 13 March 1967.
  • Saeeda Anwara Taimur- was the leader of the Congress and was the CM of Assam from 6 December 1980 to 30 June 1981.
  • Sheila Dixit- Congress leader Sheila Dixit was the CM of Delhi from 3 December 1998 to 28 December 2013.
  • Nandini Satpathy- Congress leader and Laker in Odisha from 14 June 1972 till 16 December 1976.
  • Rajinder Kaur Bhattal- was the leader of the Congress and in Punjab she was CM from 21 November 1996 to 12 February 1997.
  • Sushma Swaraj- BJP leader Sushma Swaraj was the CM of Delhi from 12 October 1998 to 3 December 1998.
  • Uma Bharti- BJP leader Uma Bharti has been the CM of Madhya Pradesh from 8 December 2003 to 23 August 2004.
  • Vasundhara Raje- BJP leader Vasundhara Raje has been the CM of Rajasthan in two terms i.e. from December 8, 2003 to 13 December 2008 and from 13 December 2013 to 17 December 2018.
  • Anandiben Patel is a BJP leader and has been CM from 22 May 2014 to 7 August 2016 in Gujarat.
  • Rekha Gupta- Currently is the Chief Minister of Delhi and he was sworn in on 20 February 2025.
