Sources in the company said that Subramanian said that the exact details of the method of implementation of this announcement will soon be prepared by the officials concerned. He said that this announcement will be applicable only to women employees of the original company L&T and it will not be applicable to its subsidiary companies engaged in financial service or technology. Out of 60,000 L&T employees, about 9 percent ie about 5000 women. Let us tell you that recently Subramanian had commented with the employees to work for 90 hours a week and see his wife, after which he had to face a lot of criticisms. L&T later defended these comments during an internal virtual meeting, saying that it is in line with the initiative of nation building.

Swigy and Zomato have already made announcements

Some companies like Swiggy and Jomato have also announced to leave women during periods before Larsen & Toubro. However, apart from these, none of the major business houses of the country have taken such initiative yet. Let us tell you that the four states of the country- Bihar, Odisha, Sikkim and Kerala have made a provision of periods for their employees. The Supreme Court last year suggested the government to form a policy on the issue.
