WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus narrowly escaped an Israeli attack on the airport in Yemen’s capital Sanaa on Thursday. Tedros was about to leave from the airport after some time, when this attack took place from Israel. One crew member of the aircraft was injured in the attack. Apart from this, two other people have died.

Tedros posted on X and informed about this attack. He wrote that 2 hours before we were to board the plane, the airport was bombed. The runway has been damaged in the attack. Tedros and his companions will have to wait until the runway is repaired.

He also expressed grief over those killed in the attack. Tedros and his team had reached Yemen to negotiate the release of the UN team staff.

Israel carried out airstrike with 25 planes The Israel Defense Force (IDF) carried out an airstrike on Thursday targeting the positions of Houthi rebels in Yemen. The IDF claimed that it had targeted the military bases of the Houthis in this airstrike.

This includes Sanaa International Airport, power stations at Hejaz and Ras Kanetib and the ports of Al Hudaydah, Salif and Ras Kanetib. 25 aircraft were used for the airstrike. Apart from fighter jets, these also included refueling planes and spy planes. 6 people have died in these attacks.

On the other hand, Houthi rebels are also continuously targeting Israel. Since December 16, the Houthis have launched 5 ballistic missiles and 5 drone attacks on Israel. According to the IDF, in the last one year the Houthis have fired more than 200 missiles and 170 drones at Israel.

UN Chief condemned Israeli attack United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has condemned the Israeli attack on Sana’a airport. He called on Israel to respect international law. Guterres said that civilians and helpers should not be targeted.

Guterres has expressed concern about Israeli attacks on Sana’a airport, ports and power plants in the Red Sea. He asked Israel and the Houthi rebels to stop military action and exercise restraint.
