When was World Hindi Day celebrated for the first time?
The most spoken language in India is Hindi. Hindi Diwas will be celebrated with great pomp across the country on January 10. Apart from India, there are many other countries in the world where there are Hindi speaking people. Hindi is the only language in India which is spoken from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from North East to Gujarat. Hindi is one of the languages that is widely spoken across the world. After Mandarin and English, Hindi is the third most spoken language across the world. World Hindi Day is celebrated every year on 10 January. Its objective is to present Hindi as an international language at the global level and to create awareness for its promotion. Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year as a festival with the aim of spreading Hindi language and Hindi literature all over the world.
When was World Hindi Day celebrated for the first time
On this occasion, various programs are organized at different places. Let us tell you that many programs are also organized by the Central Government on the occasion of Hindi Day. On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, different programs are organized by the Central Government for the litterateurs associated with Hindi literature. Let us tell you that apart from India, there are many countries in the world where the number of Hindi speaking people is quite large. These countries include Philippines, Mauritius, Nepal, Suriname, Fiji, Tibet, Trinidad and Pakistan. Let us tell you that for the first time the World Hindi Day Conference was organized in Nagpur, Maharashtra in 1974. 122 representatives from 30 countries participated in this program. At this time, the then Prime Minister of the country Indira Gandhi had inaugurated this conference.
Theme of World Hindi Day 2025
Let us tell you that in the year 2006, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had announced to celebrate World Hindi Day on January 10 every year. Hindi language was used for the first time in the United Nations General Assembly on 10 January 1949. Let us tell you that Hindi language was given the status of official language of the country by the Constituent Assembly on 14 September 1949. Let us tell you that Hindi is the language spoken in most parts of the country. Therefore, it was decided to make Hindi the official language. Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, in the Hindi Sahitya Sammelan in 1918, had emphasized on making Hindi language the official language and had also said that it was the language of the masses. Let us tell you that National Hindi Day is celebrated on 14 September and World Hindi Day is celebrated on 10 January. The purpose behind celebrating both these festivals is to spread awareness among people about Hindi. Let us tell you that every year World Hindi Day is based on a special theme. The theme of Hindi Day to be celebrated in the year 2025 is ‘Global voice of Hindi unity and cultural pride’.
