After finishing the Australia tour, Team India is ready to face the challenge of England at home. The 5-match T20I series between India and England will start from January 22 in Kolkata. After this, a 3-match ODI series will be played between the two teams. This series will be very important for both the teams from the Champions Trophy point of view because the ICC tournament will be played immediately after it.
Team India will play its first match in the Champions Trophy against Bangladesh on 20 February. Before this match, Team India wants to prepare its players completely, so in such a situation the team management can give rest to some players in both the series against England. One such player is KL Rahul who is likely to get rest against England.
Might get a chance in Champions Trophy
Rahul, however, will be available for selection for the Champions Trophy starting on February 19. India will play all its matches in Dubai while the remaining matches will be held in the host country Pakistan. A BCCI source told PTI on Thursday that he has sought a break from the England series, but will be available for selection for the Champions Trophy.
Indian batsmen performed disappointingly in the Test series in Australia but Rahul was one of the few batsmen who scored runs. He was the third-highest run-scorer for India with 276 runs in 10 innings at an average of 30.66. To make a place in the limited overs team, Rahul will have to face the challenge of wicketkeeper batsmen like Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson.
