Mumbai Airport: Traveling from Mumbai Airport will become expensive. If you are going to travel from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, then your pocket will now have more weight than before. The Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has approved to increase user development fees (UDF). The new rates will be applicable from 16 May 2025 and this system will be effective till 31 March 2029.

UDF increase for domestic passengers

Till now, domestic passengers flying from Mumbai Airport had to pay Rs 120 as UDF. But according to the new rates, this amount has been increased to Rs 175. At the same time, passengers who land in Mumbai will have to pay Rs 75 per passenger UDF.

More impact on international passengers

UDF for international flights is now divided according to the travel category.

This fee will be Rs 615 per passenger for economy class passengers.

While business class passengers will have to pay Rs 695 per passenger.

First this fee respectively: 260 rupees (economy) and 304 rupees (business). This means that international travelers will now have a double burden.

Relief for Airlines: Landing and Parking Fee Cut

Although the burden on passengers has increased, the airlines have got some relief. The regulator has reduced landing and parking charges for airlines, reducing the cost of air travel. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the competition at similar airports.

Why did Aera take this decision?

Aera said in a statement that this revise has been done to keep the aviation operations balanced and efficient. Efforts have been made to ensure equal and proper distribution of fees among all stakeholders.
