TDR means Ticket Deposit Receipt. When a passenger is unable to travel in the train or there is a big problem in the journey. Such as not coaching, failure AC, changing the route of the train, etc. So he can file TDR on IRCTC and start the process to get back the money spent on that ticket.
How to file tDR
First login to www.irctc.co.in.
Go to My Account section and click on My Transactions >> File TDR.
Choose the PNR number for which TDR is to be filled.
Choose the exact reason from the drop-down menu why you could not travel.
Choose from the list of passengers who could not travel.
Click on the File TDR button.
Read the instructions that come on the screen carefully and click on YES.
When the process is successful, the TDR will appear successfully written.
What reasons can TDR be filed?
According to IRCTC, for many reasons you can fill TDR. But there is a fixed deadline for every reason.
If your train came more than 3 hours late and you did not travel, then you can file TDR till the departure time of the train.
If for some reason you did not get the coach booked and you had to travel in a low category, then you can file TDR till 2 days after the certificate is issued.
If AC was bad in your train, you can file TDR within 20 hours of reaching the destination station of the train.
If all the passengers were confirmed but could not travel, then TDR can be filed till 4 hours before the train running.
If the path of the train has changed and you did not travel, then TDR can be filed within 72 hours from the scheduled departure time of the train.
If the train does not pass through your boarding station, then you can file TDR within 72 hours from the scheduled departure time of the train.
If the train does not go to your destination station, then TDR can be filed within 72 hours.
If there were some passengers confirmed in your ticket and some waiting, and waiting, you can fill TDR within 72 hours of reaching the destination station of the train.
If all passengers were waiting and no one traveled, TDR can be filed till 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the train.
If for some reason you had to travel in a low category and you want the fare difference back, then the TDR will have to be filed within 2 days of issuing the certificate.
If you only did a part of the journey and did not go ahead, then you can file TDR within 72 hours from the scheduled departure time of the train.
If you got a seat in a low category and you did not travel, then TDR can be filed up to 3 hours before the actual departure time of the train.
If the coach was damage and you could not travel, then TDR can be filed till 3 hours before the departure of the train.
If the train did not reach your destination station and was stopped in the middle, then TDR can be filed within 72 hours from the scheduled arrival time.
In which cases will not be refunded?
If you have planned two connected trains (Connecting Trains) and for some reason the next train is missed, IRCTC does not take responsibility for it and it is not refunded. If there is any disturbance in your train journey, then you can reduce your loss slightly with the IRCTC TDR process. It is important that you file TDR with the right reason in time.
