Jagannath Puri Temple
A priest of the Jagannath temple in Puri, Odisha is building a luxurious resort. In a press conference in Kolkata, he said that he is building a luxurious resort with 300 rooms focused on spirituality in the holy city. The priest said on Sunday that this project on the beach would be pure vegetarian and alcoholless, aimed at providing “sattvic” experiences to pilgrims and travelers seeking spiritual peace with modern amenities.
An official of the team of the priest of Jagannath temple said that the current assessment of this project is Rs 200 crore. Sevayat Daityapati Bhavani Das said, “Puri is not just a destination. It is a sacred residence where divinity meets the ocean. The resort will provide a mixture of spiritual peace and luxurious hospitality.” He said that the construction cost of the ‘Jagannam’ project is estimated to be Rs 110 crore except the land. Under the Meridian Mist Hotel and Resort, the project is being built on a seven-acre beach along the Puri-Konark sea route, which is about 8 km from the Jagannath temple in Puri.
Tourism will get a boost with devotion
The priest said, “The land is mine and there is no conflict of interests with the Jagannath temple.” Das said that this resort, which opened in 14-16 months before the 2026 Rath Yatra, is expected to redefine spiritual tourism in Puri, which will attract both pilgrims and upper-class travelers. Das and his family owe 100 percent of the resort, but are ready to reduce their stake based on the reaction of the project’s membership program.
These luxury facilities will be available
The price of membership is Rs 3.5 lakh, Rs 5 lakh and Rs 7 lakh, which provides members to stay three nights every month for five years, making it an affordable option of luxury resorts in Puri. The resort aims to add 5,000 members to its initial stage. The resort will have studios and deluxe cottages, an amphitheater, an jogging track, a tennis court and dedicated health spaces. (Input-PTI)
