Punjab Budget 2025: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday presented a budget of Rs 2.36 lakh crore for the state financial year 2025-26. In this budget of Punjab, it is proposed to allocate Rs 5598 crore for the health sector. But, in this budget, there is no proposal about giving Rs 1000 to women every month, which was included in the election promises of the Aam Aadmi Party before coming to power. Cheema proposed a budget expenditure of Rs 2,36,080 crore for FY 2025-26.
5,000 home guards will be deployed with BSF
Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Punjab government will deploy 5,000 home guards with BSF on the border and set up a second defense line. This decision of the government will provide employment to thousands of youths of the state. Cheema said that the insurance cover for all the families of Punjab will be increased to Rs 10 lakh annually. In addition, a budgetary allocation of Rs 5,598 crore has been made for the health sector, which is 10 percent more than the previous financial year. This decision will save the expenses incurred in the treatment of the people of Punjab and will increase their savings.
Many big announcements for farmers
In order to encourage crop diversification for farmers in the budget, a new scheme is being launched by incorporating three districts Bathinda, Kapurthala and Gurdaspur for Kharif Maize crop. Under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs 17,500 will be given for each acre on maize cultivation. On the issue of burning stubble, he said that it is a matter of concern for the whole country and the Punjab government is committed to dealing with it. To provide electricity subsidy to the agricultural sector, a state -of -the -art shrimp processing unit is proposed to allocate Rs 9,992 crore and support farming in waterlogging areas.
What is for women in the budget
The Punjab government also made major announcements for women in the budget of FY 2025-26. The government announced an allocation of Rs 6175 crore for widow women of Punjab. Under the Ashirwad Scheme, there is a provision of Rs 360 crore for the marriage of daughters, which will give a lot of relief to poor families. Apart from this, a provision of Rs 450 crore has been made for women’s free bus service.
