Pope Francis had reached so close to dying that the medical team had decided to stop his treatment so that they could die peacefully. However, the Pope’s nurse did not agree. He asked to continue the treatment of the Pope till the last moment.
Doctors treating Pope Francis themselves have revealed this. 88 years Pope Francis was admitted to the hospital in February due to respiratory disease. He was discharged last Sunday 5 weeks later.

Pope Francis was discharged from the hospital on 23 March.
Trouble increased after drinking vomiting Francis was admitted to Jamelli Hospital in Rome. During this time, he had serious difficulty in breathing at least four times. The most problem was on 28 February. Then he took the vomit in, which increased the pressure on his lungs and stopped breathing.
Hospital surgeon Sergio Alystri said in an interview- Pope’s condition had worsened. We were completely convinced that they would no longer escape. We had to choose to stop their treatment or adopt other avenues of treatment. But there was a greater risk of damage to their inner organs.
When the Pope’s private nurse Masimiliano Strepeti was asked for the closure of treatment, he flatly refused. He directed the medical team to continue treatment. He asked the team to try everything and not give up.
Pope was also sure to die
Almari said that the Pope was also convinced that he would not survive more than night. But after putting pressure from the nurse, the doctors began a fresh treatment. It also got the benefit and his condition started to improve.
Doctors announced on 10 March that they no longer threatened. As soon as the Pope began to feel better, the Pope started walking in the ward on his wheelchair and one evening offered pizza for all those who helped him.
After further improvement in the condition, the Pope sought permission from the doctors to go home, which he also got. After leaving the hospital, Pope came to his home in Santa Marta, located in Vatican City. According to doctors, they will need two months more rest to be completely healthy.

The Pope thanked the supporters from the balcony of Jameli Hospital in Rome for their prayers.
Pope will have to learn to speak again Vatican’s cardinal Victor Manual Fernandez said on Friday that Pope Francis was gradually gaining his strength, but he will have to learn to speak again due to high flow oxygen therapy for a long time.
Many times a person’s mouth and throat dries up due to high flow oxygen, which causes difficulty in speaking. Apart from this, high flow oxygen can cause problems like breathing or chest pain.
According to the Vatican, Pope was also working from the hospital during treatment. Earlier, Pope Francis had to go to the hospital in 2021 due to diverticulitis and hernia surgery in 2023.
