Jammu-Kashmir Budget: 815 crores on farming and 390 crores on tourism will be spent, Abdullah said thanks to PM

Jammu and Kashmir The Abdullah government has presented the state budget on Friday. This is the first budget introduced by the government elected in the last seven years. State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has presented this budget. He said that the budget has focused on empowering women and youth. He said that compliance with GST in the state has increased. In the budget of Jammu and Kashmir, Rs 815 crore has been allocated on agriculture. This will create 2.88 lakh jobs. The state will promote two-crop patterns and focus on the expansion of gardening. The government is planning to promote wool processing and leather tanning industry. This will help the local economy. Abdullah said that after the unrest of decades, the state is now on the path of permanent peace. Omar Abdullah thanked the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Finance Minister for continuous support and cooperation in the progress of the state.

390.20 crores for tourism development

The government’s second major focus is on tourism. The government has estimated 2.36 crore tourists in 2024. 1800 global participants participated in the event like Kashmir Marathon. The increasing popularity of places like Shiva Khori and Dudhpathri is increasing the number of tourists in the state. Provision of Rs 390.20 crore has been kept on tourism development in the budget. It will do work like increasing homestand, promoting water sports and developing Sonamarg like Winter Sports Destination. There will be a Naya water park in Sidara, Jammu and Basholi will be developed as an adventure destination.

New film policy will be implemented

Abdullah said that the government is focusing on empowering areas like agriculture, tourism and local industries. Apart from this, there is also a plan to implement a new film policy. It aims to make Jammu and Kashmir a major destination for filmmaking and eco-perpetuation. The state will also focus on building 500 new panchayat houses to improve local infrastructure. The budget shows that 70 percent of the amount is being allocated on salary, which is putting significant pressure on the finance of the state. Additionally, there are high ATNC (administrative, technical and non-commercial) disadvantages and the debt of the state has increased. However, all lent to maintain financial discipline are placed within the prescribed limit. The budget also includes a provision of grant of Rs 5,000 crore to promote the development of the region.
