The 18th season of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL will start from 22 March, for which all 10 franchises have started their preparations. While some teams have announced the names of replacement players in some teams, Defending Champion Kolkata Knight Riders have made another big announcement after announcing their new captain’s name for the upcoming season a few days ago, in which they have decided to add former West Indies player Otis Gibson to their coaching staff. KKR has made Ajinkya Rahane the captain of his team for the IPL 2025 season.
Gibson will fulfill the responsibility of assistant coach
Otis Gibson has a lot of coaching experience. 55 -year -old Gibson was a part of the West Indies team from 1995 to 1999, in which he got a chance to play in both Test and ODI format. After this, Gibson stepped into the coaching world in which he was seen playing the role of the bowling coach of the England team 2 times. Otis Gibson also played the responsibility of the head coach of the West Indies team from 2010 to 2014. At the same time, he was also the head coach of the South Africa team from 2017 to 2019. Gibson may not be able to show more amazing than his bowling in International cricket, but his record in the first class is very good, in which he has more than 650 wickets. If we look at the coaching staff of KKR, where Chandrakant will be Pandit in the role of head coach, while bowling coach Bharat Arun, spin bowling coach Carl Crow, Mentor Dwayne Bravo while Otis Gibson will take responsibility for assistant coach.
KKR will play the first match against RCB
Kolkata Knight Riders will play their first match in IPL 2025 at their Home Ground Eden Gardens Stadium on 22 March. KKR is then playing the second match against the Rajasthan Royals team on the ground of Guwahati on 26 March. While Ajinkya Rahane will be seen handling the captaincy of the KKR team, match winner players like Moin Ali and Spencer Johnson are also part of the squad.
