Gujarat Titans have entrusted the important responsibility to former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade. Matthew Wade has been appointed as Assistant Coach. Wade was part of the Gujarat team till last season, but now he will be seen taking care of a big responsibility in the coaching staff. Matthew Wade played 2 matches for Gujarat in IPL 2024 last year and scored just 4 runs. Matthew Wade said goodbye to red ball cricket in March last year. He attended the T20 World Cup 2024 and then announced his retirement from international cricket in October 2024.
Wade was associated with the Gujarat team in 2022 and was part of the GT squad until last season. However, he was released before the mega auction. He played 12 matches for GT in IPL and scored 161 runs at an average of 14.64. During this time his best score was 35 runs. He first attended the IPL in 2011. That season he played 3 matches for Delhi Capitals and scored just 22 runs. After this he stayed away from IPL for 11 years.
Significantly, Gujarat Titans will begin their campaign in IPL 2025 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 25 March.
