Bhubaneswar: A senior officer of the Transport Department in Odisha has been arrested on Friday. The officer has a large number of assets such as 3 multi -storey buildings, three flats, 11 plots and a farmhouse. Everyone is surprised to hear that an officer has such a large amount of property.

Mohanty is now working as Joint Commissioner (Road Safety) in the office of the State Transport Authority (STA). The official said that during the raid, the officials of the Vigilance Department, three multi -storey buildings in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Khurda, two ‘benami’ flats in Puri, a farmhouse spread over 14.78 acres in Nayagarh, Bhuvneshwar, Khurda, Ranapur and Nayagarh discovered 11 expensive plots and 11 acres of agricultural land.

According to the official, 2.1 kg gold biscuits and jewelery weighing, one crore rupees, Rs 17 lakh bank deposit, four wheelers two vehicles and Rs 17.55 lakh cash have also been seized for purchasing luxurious flats in Bhubaneswar.

The Anti -Corruption Branch has registered a case against Mohanty at the Vigilance Police Station in Bhubaneswar. Vigilance officials say that Mohanty could not tell how he acquired such a big property and what was its source. After this, he has been arrested. (input language)
