A fire broke out in the Secretariat in the Segunbagicha area of ​​Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka at around 2 pm on Wednesday. According to media reports, the fire first broke out in Secretariat building number 7. After this it continued to spread.

As soon as the news of the fire was received, the fire department sent 8 units to the spot. However, 10 more units of fire brigade were later sent to the spot to control the fire. The fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control after 6 hours with great effort.

According to Shahjahan Shikdar, officer of the media cell of the fire brigade, the fire department had received information about the fire at 1:52 pm, after which the fire brigade personnel reached the spot at 1:54 am. The fire was brought under control at 8:05 am.

A fireman died after being hit by a tanker

The fire department said that while controlling the fire, a fireman was hit by a tanker, due to which he died. According to the report, he was going to install pipes in the tanker when he was hit by another tanker. After this he was taken to the hospital where he died.

The name of the killed fireman is Sohnur Zaman Nayan. He was a fire brigade personnel at Tejgaon Fire Station. Apart from this, another fireman Habibur Rahman got injured in his leg.

A committee will be formed to investigate the fire

Jahangir Alam Chaudhary, advisor to the Home Ministry in the interim government, said that a high level committee would be formed to investigate the fire. At present the cause of the fire has not been known. Chaudhary said that instructions have been given to the Cabinet Secretary and Home Secretary in this regard.

The Secretariat of Dhaka is the principal administrative headquarters of the Government of Bangladesh. There are total 8 buildings in it. Building number 7, where the fire started, houses the offices of major ministries like Finance, Road Transport, Labor and Water.
