If you have a flight from Delhi Airport today, then you should go to the airport after checking your terminal. In fact, IndiGo and Akasa Air are removing their domestic flights from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 from Tuesday, as Terminal 2 has been temporarily closed for maintenance work from April 15. According to PTI news, the new terminal has been completely commissioned from 1 Tuesday (15 April).
IndiGo has recommended to obtain a PNR on the airline’s website or mobile app to check the departure/arrival terminal before going to the airport. In a post on social media platform X, Akasa Air said that from April 15, all its flights from Delhi would be operated from Terminal 1 (1D).
Terminal 1 and terminal 2 for domestic flights
According to the news, IndiGo and Akasa Air’s flights operate from Terminal 2, which handles around 270-280 air traffic. Over 46,000 passengers serve every day. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) operating by Dial has three terminals – T1, T2 and T3 – and four runways. Let me tell you, it is also the largest and busiest airport in the country. At present, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 have been used only for the operation of domestic flights.
Indigo is making contact with passengers
IndiGo said that it has taken active steps to ensure that customers have well known information about the terminal changes. IndiGo said that the airline is contacting all passengers and their respective travel agents via SMS, calls and emails. IndiGo has recommended obtaining PNR on the airline website or mobile app to check the departure/arrival terminal before visiting the airport.
