Former India cricketer Yograj Singh has praised BCCI on the selection of the Indian team for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. He said that the selectors have selected the right players and the Indian team will achieve success in the future. BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar on Saturday announced the Indian team for the Champions Trophy and ODI series in the presence of captain Rohit Sharma in Mumbai. In this announcement, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the vice-captain, while Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yashasvi Jaiswal got a place in the team. Fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has been dropped from the team and Arshdeep Singh was selected in his place.

What did Yograj Singh say?

Yograj Singh praised the selectors and said that the selection of team captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Shubman Gill will benefit Indian cricket. He also told that Gill may get a chance to lead the Indian team in the future. Furthermore, he expressed the need to support the players who are going through tough times. He took the name of Abhishek Sharma and said that he could have become a big player in the future and should have got a place in the team.

India will face these teams

India have won the Champions Trophy twice, and this time their campaign will begin against Bangladesh on February 20. After this, India will face Pakistan on 23 February and New Zealand on 2 March. Yograj Singh also supported another decision of the BCCI, in which it was decided to stop the players of the senior men’s team from going on tour with their families. He said that when players are traveling with the team, being with their families distracts them, and while playing cricket, the team is their family. This decision will increase the focus of the players and have a positive impact on their performance.

The following players are included in the Indian team for the England ODI series and Champions Trophy: Rohit Sharma (captain), Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill (vice captain), Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Harshit Rana (for England ODI only).
