Chinese President Xi Jinping will not participate in the BRICS Summit to be held at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil next week. According to a report by South China Morning Post, China has informed the host Brazil, citing the President’s busy schedule.

The 17th BRICS Summit in Brazil is scheduled to be held on 6-7 July. Brazilian President Lula D. Silva has been invited to the state dinner. The report claimed that the Chinese President is angry with this. It is estimated that the Chinese President could get less attention when Modi’s departure, so he kept distance from the summit.

This will be the first time in the tenure of 12 years as the President of Xi Jinping, when he will not go to the BRICS Summit. Since 2013, he joins the summit every year. During the Kovid epidemic, he participated in the BRICS for two years.

On reports of not participating in the Summit of Xi Jinping, the Brazilian Foreign Ministry said it would not comment on the internal decisions of foreign delegations. However, Brazil is upset with the Chinese President’s decision about 10 days before the meeting.
