Wholesale price inflation has increased to 2.37 percent in December 2024. This has been revealed from the government data released on Tuesday. It has been told that the reason behind the increase in wholesale inflation is the increase in manufactured products. However, food prices have declined. According to PTI news, Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation was 1.89 percent in November 2024. In December 2023 it was 0.86 percent. According to the data, food inflation declined to 8.47 percent in December 2024 compared to 8.63 percent in November.
Potato inflation rate at high level at 93.20 percent
According to the news, the inflation rate of vegetables was 28.65 percent as against 28.57 percent in November. Potato inflation remained high at 93.20 per cent, and that of onion rose to 16.81 per cent in December. Among food items, inflation in cereals, pulses, wheat witnessed a decline in December. The fuel and power category saw a deflation of 3.79 per cent in December, compared to 5.83 per cent in November.
Retail inflation came down to 5.22 percent
Inflation in manufactured goods stood at 2.14 percent as against 2 percent in November. Retail inflation data released on Monday showed that consumer price index (CPI) based inflation fell to a four-month low of 5.22 per cent in December due to softening food prices.
