Former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh has passed away at the age of 92. He died at 9.51 pm on Thursday at AIIMS in Delhi. Manmohan Singh, one of the most famous economists of India and the world, was the Prime Minister of the country for a total of 10 years from 2004 to 2014. Earlier, he had also held the post of Finance Minister of the country and had made major changes in the economic policies of the country.

Dr. Manmohan Singh was born on 26 September 1932 in Gah village of Punjab, undivided India. This area now falls in Chakwal, Punjab (Pakistan). His father’s name was Gurmukh Singh and mother’s name was Amrit Kaur. Manmohan Singh’s mother died when he was very young. After this his grandmother raised him. After partition, Manmohan Singh’s family came to India.

After this he obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from Cambridge University and then a Doctorate degree in Economics from Oxford University.
