WHIL 2025: Women’s Hockey League is to be organized to promote women’s hockey in India. This tournament will be organized in Ranji. In which a total of four teams will participate. This tournament will be played in Ranchi from 12 to 26 January. Delhi SG Pipers, Odisha Warriors, Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers and Surma Hockey Club will participate in this tournament. Talking about this tournament, the coach of the Indian women’s hockey team said that the Women’s Hockey India League can have the same impact on the game as the Indian Premier League has on cricket. Rani says that women’s hockey will get a bigger platform through the Women’s Hockey India League. Which will increase awareness and popularity of the game.

Rani, who is the mentor and coach of Surma Hockey Club, while talking to the media of Sports Authority of India (SAI) said that Hockey India should be appreciated for starting this league, because it took time to start, but This is an important step for the future of women’s hockey. Rani further said why our men’s hockey team won bronze medals in the Olympics in Paris. The credit for this goes to the Men’s Hockey India League, which had taken strong steps in this direction many years ago. She believes that the start of the Women’s Hockey League will provide an opportunity to young women players to showcase their skills in the coming years and especially in the 2032 and 2036 Olympics. This league will prove to be a great platform for those players who are starting their career and who want to make India proud at the international level in future.

Giving the example of women’s cricket, Rani said that when women’s cricket started, very few people knew about this game. But now you see how this game has become popular in the country. She believes that WHIL will also bring the same change for women’s hockey and through this, not only will the players get a platform, but a new thinking will develop regarding women’s hockey across the country. According to Rani, this league is not just a sporting event for women’s hockey, but it can be a part of a revolution that will pave new opportunities and paths for women players.
