Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Digvijay Singh said that he has doubts about passing the ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill in Parliament. Congress leader Digvijay Singh also rejected the allegations leveled against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi regarding ‘pushing’ with BJP MPs in the Parliament complex on Thursday.
Bill sent to JPC
The two bills related to ‘One Nation, One Election’ (ONOE) provide for simultaneous holding of elections. These were introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday after a heated debate. One of these bills requires an amendment to the Constitution. The Lok Sabha on Friday simultaneously sent two election-related bills to the Joint Committee of Parliament (JPC).

Digvajiya Singh said on the ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill, ‘JPC has been formed and I do not think it will be passed.’ Delhi Police had on Thursday registered an FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with the ‘pushing’ that took place in the Parliament complex. In the complaint, he has been accused of ‘assaulting and instigating’ during the scuffle. In this ‘pushing’, two BJP MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were injured.
The allegations against Rahul Gandhi are completely false
Congress rejected the claim outright, alleging that BJP MPs pushed Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and scuffled with Gandhi. When asked about the allegations leveled against Gandhi for scuffling with BJP MPs, Digvajiya Singh said that these allegations are completely false.

The former Chief Minister said, ‘They are complete liars. There was a scuffle between BJP leaders. He said, ‘One BJP MP fell on another. Both were injured. The one who fell said that Rahul Gandhi was standing in front of him. If he was standing in front, could he have pushed her?’
