India has no dearth of millionaires and billionaires and some of them are world’s biggest. However, their path to wealth is not necessarily through higher education. Here’s a list of some richest Indians with their educational qualifications.
Chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani studied chemical engineering at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai. He also enrolled in the MBA program at Stanford University but left in 1980.
Wipro’s chairman, Azim Premji studied electrical engineering at Stanford University. He left his degree midway and later completed it through a distance learning program.
Arcelor Mittal’ executive chairman, Lakshmi Mittal completed bachelor’s degree in commerce from Kolkata’ St. Xavier’s College.
Anil Ambani The managing director of Reliance Group graduated with a bachelor’s degree in science from K.C. College, University of Mumbai. In his higher studies he studied MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Co-founder of Infosys, Narayana Murthy studied electrical engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore and thereafter pursued master's in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur.
Aditya Birla Group’s chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla earned a degree in commerce from Mumbai's H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, and later an MBA from the London Business School.
Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra studied bachelor’s in film studies and architecture from Harvard University. He then completed his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1981.
