A new report by America’s defense intelligence states that Pakistan sees India as a threat to its existence. Because of this he is taking economic and military support from China to modernize his nuclear weapons and increase military capacity.
At the same time, India considers Pakistan only a security challenge that can be handled. India considers the real threat to China and makes its military preparations accordingly. Despite Make in India, India still depends on Russian weapons.
The World Threat Assessment 2025 report of the United States Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) said that India’s defense policy will be focused on facing China and increasing India’s military capabilities.

The China-India dispute is not over yet, it is just stopping
India considers China the biggest challenge. This is due to border dispute, increase in China’s military power, and economic-technical competition. It states that China’s growing military power, especially the Navy and missile capabilities, are a matter of concern for India.
In addition, China’s regional influence (eg BRI, CPEC) and AI, cyber, and progress in space are strategic challenge for India.
The report also reported that the dispute over the Indo-China border is still not completely over, although the tension has decreased slightly after the 2020 clashes. But India is increasing its presence in the Indian Ocean to reduce the influence of China and is having military partnership with other countries.
India is competing with China through its military preparations (eg military deployment on LAC, naval expansion) and alliance (Quad, America).
The picture has caused a bloody clash between India-China soldiers on 15 June 2020 in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh. After this, the dispute between the two countries deepened.
India is increasing strength through Make in India

- India has tested new missile systems such as Agni-I Prime and Agni-V and also deployed a new nuclear submarine.
- India will maintain its relationship with Russia, as it considers Russia necessary for military and financial help.
- India has reduced the purchase of Russian-origin military equipment (eg S-400, SU-30 MKI), but depends on the Russian spare parts for tanks (T-90) and fighter aircraft (MIG-29, SU-30).
Pakistan’s nuclear program threatened to South Asia
The report states that Pakistan acquires material and technology for nuclear weapons from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Türkiye, and United Arab Emirates. However, it also states that Pakistan’s nuclear modernization pose a risk for stability in South Asia.
The report has seen Pakistan as an unstable and strategically weak country, which considers India a threat to its existence and is dependent on China to increase its military and nuclear capabilities.
India’s military and economic superiority (such as Rafael Jet, Agni missiles) makes Pakistan unsafe. Apart from this, Pakistan is facing increasing attacks from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Baloch militants.
The Pakistani army is focusing on fighting terrorism, security of borders and modernizing nuclear weapons. In 2024, more than 2,500 people were killed in terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
Capturing Taiwan China’s purpose
In the report, China has been considered globally the largest military and cyber threat. It states that China is the biggest political threat to India. China has been creating challenges with India in Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh. Apart from this, China’s BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) and CPEC reduces India’s influence.
China’s navy, missiles, and cyber abilities are challenges for India. In addition, he sees Pakistan as a strategic partner against India, which he provides military and economic support.
China is increasing its military capabilities. His purpose is to capture Taiwan. The report also states that China has the ability to target American territory. Apart from this, China’s space and cyber capacity have been considered a threat to countries like America and India.
