Why is the fire raging?
Efforts are being made to control the fire with helicopters and planes, but due to stormy winds it is becoming difficult to control the fire. Due to changing direction of winds, the fire is continuously spreading at different places.
The rescue team deployed in the affected area is taking thousands of people to safe places. Local schools, community centers and other safe places have been prepared as emergency shelters.
The fire has not only caused damage to property but is also causing serious damage to the environment. Hundreds of trees and animals have been burnt to ashes in the fire. Due to jam on the roads, people are leaving their cars and going on foot to safer places.
‘Santa Sana’ winds are the biggest reason for instigating the fire. These winds are extremely hot. These usually run in the autumn season. These winds affect Southern California the most. According to reports, at present the winds are blowing at a speed of 130 to 160 kilometers per hour, due to which the damage is increasing.
