The Lachethath base is the largest base of the US Air Force in the UK.
According to a report by the Federation of American Scientists (FAS), the US is planning to deploy its nuclear weapons in Britain after two decades (about 17 years). The revelation of this report is shocking amid President Trump’s attempts to stop the Russia-Ukraine War.
The report stated that satellite photographs have shown that 22 nuclear bunkers have been upgraded to the RAF Lachethath base at Saifock. These bunkers have underground chambers, each of which can be placed in 4 nuclear weapons.
The Lachethath base is the largest base of the US Air Force in the UK. And is one of the major military bases of Europe. Here are the nuclear-capable F-15E strike Eagle and Squadron of F-35A Lightning II fighter aircraft. Russia has deployed several nuclear weapons in the western part to respond to the US.

According to the Federation of American Scientist, 9 countries of the world have more than 12 thousand atom bombs.

Special weapon ‘site added to the list of upgradation
- According to the report, this move of the US will increase the security of nuclear reserves of Western countries and affect Russia’s military strategy. Currently, around 100 American B61–12 bombs have been stored on the airbase of Italy, Turki Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. These bombs have a capacity of up to 50 kilotons, which is 3 times more powerful than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
- In 2021, the US had decided to re -activate Lachethath’s nuclear capacity. The plan has gained further strength after the Russia-Ukraine War. The document related to NATO revealed that Britain has been added to the list of upgradation to the ‘Special weapon’ site.
- The procurement contracts of the Pentagon also confirmed the new facility plan at Lachethath. According to the report, the US is re -establishing its nuclear mission in Britain after nearly 20 years. This step is considered to be a reaction to deteriorating political and military relations with Russia.
Russia said- the correct answer will be given when the time comes In 1954, American atomic bombs were deployed at Britain’s bases including RAF Lachethath. In 1990 there were 33 bunkers capable of storing 132 US nuclear weapons.
In 2008, when George W. Bush was President, all American nuclear weapons were removed from Britain when the tension was reduced with the end of the Cold War. On the new revelations, Russian Rashtrapati Bhavan Kramleen described the scheme as stress enhancing and said that on arrival, he would give a ‘comfortable reply’.
