Putin said- Ukraine is ours, people of both countries are one
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on June 20 that the whole Ukraine is ours. Apart from this, he warned to capture Ukrainian city of Sumi to create a buffer zone.
Putin said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that the Russian and Ukrainians are the same and in this context, Ukraine is from Russia. However, he said that he is not questioning Ukraine’s independence, but Ukraine would have to leave the Russian -occupied region.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Jailonsky dismissed Putin that Russian and Ukrainians are the same people.

Russia wants to weaken Ukraine by occupying the city of Sumi
Russia is currently occupied by about 20% of Ukraine, including more than 99% of Crimea, Luhansk region, more than 70% of Donnetsk, Japorizia and Kharcarson regions, and parts of Kharkiv, Sumi and Dnipropatrovsk regions.
Putin had recently talked about creating a buffer zone in the Sumi area bordering Ukraine. Its purpose is to protect Russian border areas (eg Kursk, Brainsk, and Belgorod) from Ukrainian drones and artillery attacks.
The Russian army has captured four villages of Sumi (Nonveke, Basivka, Veselivka, and Zuravaka), which are now in the gray zone. Russia claims that the inclusion of the Sumi city (25 km from the border) in the buffer zone will reduce Ukraine’s attack.

Know why the war of Russia-Ukraine started
February 2022- Russian President Vladimir Putin started entering Ukraine as soon as the Russian tank started announcing the attack. The then US President Joe Biden said- there is no plan to talk to Putin. They have endangered the whole world. Russia will have to pay a serious price for the attack on Ukraine.
February 2025- US new President Donald Trump spoke to Putin for 90 minutes on the phone. This was followed by a high level meeting between Russia and American over the Ukraine War in Saudi Arabia. Ukraine was not placed in it. Trump praised Putin and called Ukraine President Volodimir Jailonsky as ‘dictator’.
May 2025- Peace conversation to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine intensified in 2025, especially after the initiative of US President Donald Trump. In recent times, prisoners have been swapped, but there have been differences over regional control and safety guarantee.
