An official statement said that more than 1.17 crore Aadhaar numbers have been closed so far. These belong to those who have died. Now UIDAI has launched a new facility on ‘My Aadhaar Portal’. In this, facility to inform the family member’s death. Through this, any person can give information about a dead member of his family.

How is identification?

UIDAI has collected about 1.55 crore death records from 24 states and union territories. He got this information through the Civil Registration System (CRS). About 1.17 crore Aadhaar numbers have been closed after completing the verification process of this data. Where there is no CRS right now, the process is also going on. More than 6.7 lakh death records have also been received from such states and union territories. The work of deactivating them is going on.

How to inform the dead member of the family?

If a member in someone’s family dies, then any other member can go to ‘My Aadhaar portal’ and give information. For this, he will have to certify himself (eg OTP to login), the Aadhaar number of the deceased will have to be given. Also, information related to death certificate number and some other population will have to be given. After examining this information, UIDAI neutralizes the Aadhaar number of the deceased.

Investigation of people over 100 years of age

There is also a special thing that UIDAI is now investigating the founders who are more than 100 years old. This work is being done under the pilot project. Their data is being shared with the concerned state governments to find out whether they are still alive or not.
