Aadhar update: Biometric updates of Aadhaar cards of children will be updated in schools across the country. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is working on a new scheme. Under the scheme, biometric data of children above 5 years will be updated through schools. This process will be started in a phased manner in the next 2 months.
7 crore children did not get biometric update
UIDAI CEO Bhuvanesh Kumar informed that about 7 crore children have not been updated biometric, while according to the rules, this update is necessary after completing the age of 5 years.
Why is biometric update important?
According to UIDAI, biometric update can be done between 5 and 7 years of age. But if the child becomes older than 7 years and has not been updated yet. Then a fee of Rs 100 is charged for the update. Also, if not updated even after the age of 7 years, then the base of that child can be deactivated. Biometric updates will easily use Aadhaar in children in many government schemes, school admission, scholarship, entrance exam etc.
Schools will be contacted
UIDAI will update the children’s biometric with schools with the consent of the parents. Tectinical checking is also going on for this. It is expected that this facility will start in 45 to 60 days. UIDAI will send biometric machines to every district, which will be taken from school to school so that more and more children can be reached.
Second update from schools after 15 years
UIDAI plans that when children cross the age of 15, then the second biometric update of their Aadhaar should also be done through schools or colleges. Right now the base of children younger than 5 years is made without biometric, but after completing the age of 5 years, updates are necessary. UIDAI says that children can benefit from many government schemes on time through Aadhaar. It will be easier to connect this process with schools.
