Two more Indian citizens have been hanged in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Both were convicted of murder. According to media reports, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed the hanging.
UAE officials informed India’s embassy on 28 February 2025 that both have been hanged. On which date the hanging was given, it is not clear yet. Both are from Kerala. He is named Mohammad Rehinash Arangilottu and Muralitharan Perumathta Valappil.
The Supreme Court of Cassation of the UAE upheld the lower court verdict. After this, both were hanged.
India had appealed for apology, court rejected The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Indian Embassy had appealed for mercy petition and apology but, the UAE’s Supreme Court upheld the death sentence. The ministry said that the families of the deceased have been informed about the hanging.
According to reports, Rinash used to work in a travel agency in al -Ann. He killed UAE citizen. At the same time, Muralitharan was sentenced to death for the murder of an Indian man.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in its statement that it provided all possible legal help to both. The ministry is trying to arrange for both family members to attend the funeral.
UAE has the highest number of Indians who have been sentenced to death on foreign soil. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirtivardhan Singh had told the Rajya Sabha on 13 February that 29 Indians were facing death sentence.
However, this number has come down to 26 after the 33 -year -old Shehzadi Khan and 2 youths of Kerala, who hail from Banda, Uttar Pradesh.
Shehzadi Khan was hanged in UAE on 15 February. Shehzadi was accused of killing a 4 -month -old child. She was in jail in Dubai for 2 years. The court sentenced him to death 4 months ago. He was buried in UAE on 5 March.
