Women’s Premier League
The current champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) have to make many changes in the list of their foreign players, as the number of injured players is increasing and veteran all -rounder Sophie Divine has taken a break from the game. RCB had already signed English all -rounder Charlie Dean in place of Sophie Molinux and has now also included the Australian pair of Heather Graham and Kim Garth in the team.
These players joined RCB
Fast bowler all -rounder Graham, who has previously been part of Mumbai Indians, will replace Divine, while Garth will return to WPL in place of England fast bowler Kate Cross, who did not play a single match in 2024 in the RCB title winning campaign. . RCB has confirmed in a statement on X that Kiwi all -rounder Sophie Divine is taking a break from cricket for her good and English speedster Kate Cross will be out of this season due to a cross back injury. Veteran Garth will bring depth in the fast bowling attack, who took five wickets in the first season of WPL, playing for Gujarat giants. RCB is concerned about Alice Perry’s fitness, so Garth is involved at the right time, as Renuka Singh Thakur is the only other experienced Indian option and now Heather Graham has also joined the team.
Changes in UP team
On the other hand, UP Warriors also had to change their team in the last moment as captain Elisa Heley has been out of the competition due to a tension in her right leg. Heli has not been able to return to competitive cricket since the injury during the T20 World Cup last year and said that she wants to rest for two months after the Ashes and wants to solve this problem forever. Warriors bought West Indies all -rounder Chennel Henry for his base price of Rs 30 lakh in place of Heli. Henry performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup in UAE and will replace Tahlia McGrath as an all -rounder.
Warriors will now have to appoint a new captain. Since Deepti Sharma was Heli’s deputy, she would be the top contenders for the post, until John Lewis and the company choose to go in a separate direction. The third season of WPL will begin on 14 February in Vadodara, in which Gujarat giants will face the defending winner RCB in the first match.
