US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday ordered American embassies worldwide not to schedule new interviews for students visas (F, M and J), as the Trump government is considering further strictnessing the social media profiles of students coming to America.
Rubio said- The government is going to do social media screening and investigation and hardening. Therefore, with immediate effect, the Consular section does not allow the new appointment for the student or exchange visa (F, M and J) Visa until further guidelines are issued.
Although pre -scheduled interviews may occur, new appointments will not be added.
Government wants to stop Jewish protests in America
This prohibition applies to F, M and J visa categories, which covers most international students and exchange visitors. It is claimed that students coming through these programs may be a threat to America or can promote the anti-Jewish environment.
However, in this order it does not clearly explain what will be seen in social media investigation in future. Earlier, social media investigation was applicable only to students who were involved in pro -Palestine demonstrations.
Rubio had said- will not give visas to participate in the movement
Earlier in March, Rubio had said- If you apply for a student visa in America and say that you want to participate in movements like sabotage in universities, harassing students, occupying buildings or committing uproar, we will not give you a visa.
Admission of foreign students was also banned in Harvard
The Trump government last week banned the admission of foreign students at Harvard University. Homeland Security Secretary Christie NoM shared Harvard on letter x in Trump administration.
He wrote in the caption, ‘Trump administration blames Harvard for violence in his campus, promoting anti-Jewish thinking and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party.’
Along with this, all foreign students studying in the university were asked to take transfer to other institutions. Otherwise they could have to leave the country. However, the court of Massachusetts later laid a temporary stay on the Trump government’s decision.
