US President Donald Trump has stopped funds of 19 thousand crores to the United Nations (UN). Some of these money is also of the tenure of the Biden administration.
UN stands at the mouth of Kangali due to not giving the funds of Trump. The budget crisis is so serious that if the situation does not change, then after 5 months there will be no money to pay the employees.
Due to the budget crisis, UN is planning to pruning 3000 employees from many of its departments. In addition, UN will reduce the number of personnel in countries like Nigeria, Pakistan and Libya by 20 per cent.
Explain that the total budget of 2025 of UN is about 32 thousand crores.
To get out of the budget crisis, the UN has already planned to reduce 17% of the total budget i.e. a budget cut of five thousand.
America does not have the right to vote till 2027
If the US does not pay its mandatory financial help this year, then it may have to lose the right to vote in the United Nations General Assembly by 2027.
According to Article 19 of the UN Charter, if any member country who does not pay its compulsory membership fee for two years, he loses the right to voting in the General Assembly.
Countries like Iran, Venezuela, have lost voting rights due to non -payment of compulsory payments. However, when this happens, the credibility of the UN may also be shocked.
China is also delayed in giving stake
China has 20% stake in the UN budget. China delayed giving stake last year. His fund came on 27 December in 2024. The UN could not spend that fund.
If the money is not spent under the rules, it has to be returned to the member countries. Even those who did not give money on time. In fact, China wants to show the UN by paying late money that it now wants equal to the decisions and more than that. There is a discussion in the internal circles that China’s objective is the deployment of its people to the top positions of the UN.
Last year, 41 countries were outstanding 7 thousand crores
The money received by the United Nations is fixed according to the economic capacity of the member countries. This funding should usually be found in the beginning of the year i.e. January, so that the UN can ensure its general functioning, such as peace missions, human rights monitoring and general assembly meetings. But about 15% payment in 2024 did not come till December.
In 2024, the amount of seven thousand crore rupees was outstanding on 41 countries. This includes countries like America, Argentina, Mexico and Venezuela.
So far only 49 countries have paid timely. The rest of the countries have kept silence about the fund.
Last year, the United Nations, an 80 -year -old organization, suffered a total loss of 1,660 crores at the budget and cash level. The deficit occurred when the UN spent only 90 percent of its total budget.
The UN’s internal assessment is showing that if the agency does not cut, then by the end of this year, the deficit can go up to 20 thousand crores.
