Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh and moved to India after the coup in August last year.
The trial has started in the allegations related to crime against humanity against former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. These allegations were formally registered at Bangladesh’s International Crime Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday.
ICT’s Prosecutor Ghazi Manwar Hussain Tamim has given this information to the Daily Star. Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam has filed these allegations in the tribunal. On May 12, the Tribunal investigating agency submitted its investigation report against Hasina.
It was made five allegations of crime against humanity during the agitation in July 2024. According to the report, more than 1500 people were murdered and more than 25 thousand people were injured.

Terrorist Hafiz’s organization took charge of Hasina’s coup
The 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s banned organization Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD) has claimed that he played a role in large-scale anti-government protests in Bangladesh last year.
Because of this, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to withdraw from the post. According to PTI, these statements were made by Jud terrorists Saifullah Kasuri and Muzammil Hashmi during their speeches.
Addressing supporters in Lahore, Kasuri said,
I was four years old when Pakistan was divided in 1971. The then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi announced that he had submerged two-nation theory in Khaleej (Bay of Bengal). On May 10, we have taken revenge on 1971.
Hasina’s passport canceled, arrest warrant issued
The Yunus government formed after the coup in Bangladesh has registered more than 225 cases of murder, kidnapping to treason.
The Bangladesh government has also canceled Sheikh Hasina’s passport due to the killings in July. At the same time, an arrest warrant was issued against him by the International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh. The tribunal directed Hasina to appear by 12 February.
Bangladesh has also appealed to India to deline Hasina. However, the Government of India has increased his visa, making it clear that he would not be sent to Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina spoke on social media on 8 April, saying that earlier Bangladesh was seen as a model of development, but now it has become a terrorist country.
Red-corner has sought notice against Hasina from Interpol
In April this year, Bangladesh Police demanded a red corner notice against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from Interpol. Apart from Hasina, a similar demand was made against 11 others.
Sheikh Hasina has been living in India since the coup in August last year.
Bangladesh’s International Crime Tribunal (ICT) issued arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina, her former ministers, advisors and officials. They were accused of crime and genocide against humanity.
Interpol’s red notice helps to find a person and temporarily arrest him before extradition or legal action.
