Also, there will be no increase in railway fares for these passengers. Know details.

This fare hike will apply to long distance travel. Second class trains will increase by half a paisa per kilometer on a journey of more than 500 km. Those traveling in AC class will increase by 2 paise per kilometer. The fare in mail/express trains will be increased by 1 paise per kilometer.

Railways have made it clear that some passengers will not affect this increase. This includes passengers holding the monthly pass. Passengers from urban and local trains are also included. Apart from this, new rates will not be applicable to the tickets which have been booked before 1 July 2025.
Tatkal ticket booking from Aadhaar
Another major change from July 1 will be that Tatkal quota ticket booking will now be done by Aadhaar card. That is, when you book Tatkal tickets, it will be necessary to give Aadhaar number. This will transpareng in ticket booking. Also, fake booking will be controlled.
Why was the fare increased?
Government officials say that it was now necessary to increase the fare in the railway. According to former railway member (traffic) M Jamshed, this increase in fares will earn an extra Rs 1,500 crore annually. This money will be used to improve the infrastructure at passengers and improve infrastructure at railway stations. He also said that a similar fare hike was also done in 2013, 2014 and 2020. If you are planning a train journey on or after 1 July, then you may have to pay a little more rent. Especially if you are traveling long distances in second class or AC coach.
