A shocking incident was seen in Rourkela, Odisha on Sunday morning. A case of sudden firing has come to light during a mini marathon program here. After the firing incident, a young man was also shot, due to which he got injured. The youth has been identified as Indian Railways employee Salil Kumar Sahu. After being shot, he was immediately taken to Ispat General Hospital, where his condition was stated to be critical. However, later the situation was reported to be improving. The incident took place at Biju Patnaik Chowk in Sector-2, where the marathon was organised. There was chaos due to sudden firing during the program. According to eyewitnesses, as soon as the bullet was fired, the young man was immediately rescued and taken to the hospital.
Firing took place at 6 in the morning
The eyewitness present at the spot said, “Like every morning, we were walking in the field of Sector 2 at around 6 o’clock in the morning. Like every week, a mini marathon was organized in the city today too. Meanwhile suddenly a bullet was fired. A sound was heard. We all ran away from there when we came to know that one person was shot. After bringing him to the hospital, we came to know that his name was Salil Kumar Sahu and he was a railway employee. The doctor told him. Sent for X-ray. After the report came the doctor said that the injury is not very serious and Salil will recover soon.”
Police engaged in investigation
After getting information about the incident, the police also reached the spot and started investigation. City DSP also visited the spot. Police say, “We received information that someone was shot in Sector 2. As soon as we received the information, we reached the spot and started investigating the matter. The bullet touched his body and came out. As per our investigation so far, According to them, some people were preparing for a mini marathon in the morning in Sector 2. One of them was shot.
