The city planners are preparing to create a modern and environmentally friendly ‘People’s Capital’. According to officials, the city intends to meet all its electricity needs from durable sources such as solar, wind and hydroelectric with an ambitious plan to produce 2,700 MW renewable energy.
Project of Rs 65,000 crore
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s ambitious new capital city project reflects India’s renewable energy and widespread commitment to climate action. The foundation stone of this new capital, built on the banks of the Krishna River, is expected to be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi this month. The Rs 65,000 crore project will be spread over 217 square kilometers. While the Andhra Pradesh capital region is wide in 8,352 square kilometers.
Amravati needs 2,700 MW of electricity by 2050
Officials said that this new capital, which is developing between Vijayawada and Guntur, will not only showcase India’s innovation in Green Urban Planning, but will also strengthen its leadership in Global Clean Energy Transition. Chief Minister Naidu said that this 2,700 MW capacity would not only ensure zero dependence on fossil fuels, but will also establish a global standard for urban stability. Amravati has the ability to become an ideal for future cities around the world by incorporating state -of -the -art energy infrastructure in its smart city design. Officials also informed that by 2050 Amravati will require 2,700 MW of electricity, of which at least 30 percent will be obtained from renewable energy sources including solar and wind energy.
