A new virus has been found in China after Corona. American scientists have warned that this virus named HKU5-Cov-2 can infect humans.
Currently, the virus has been found in bats, but after a small change (mutation) it will spread to humans. This virus is similar to Mers (Middle East Respiratory syndrome).
The virus was first found in bats in the southern and eastern regions of China. It was identified by researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. This is the same lab from where Kovid-19 is feared to be leaked.
This news has come at a time when corona virus cases are increasing rapidly in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Thailand and India. The number of active cases in India alone has increased to more than 5 thousand.

HKU5-Cov-2 This virus is part of the Merbeco virus family, including deadly viruses such as the Middle East Respiratory syndrome (Mers-Cov). Mers-Cov is mainly found in bats.
It spreads to humans through camels. Camels are considered its reservoir (where passive viruses live). Mers first emerged in Saudi Arabia in 2012. The mortality rate of Mers is about 34% higher. That is, one of every three infected person dies.
Researchers at Washington State University studied the HKU5 virus and published their findings in the magazine ‘Nature Communications’. They found that a type, linage 2 of HKU5-Cov-2, already has the ability to infect human cells.
A small change in the spike protein of the virus can enable it to join the human Ace2 cells, which are found in people’s throat, mouth and nose.
Experts expressed their danger of spreading this virus from Chinese markets to humans
HKU5-Cov-2 is currently spreading only in bats, and there is no evidence of its spread in humans. However, experts fear that the risk of its spread has increased due to uncontrollable wildlife trade in China.
Scientists used the ‘pseudovirus’ (fake virus), using HKU5 spike proteins. These experiments show that the virus easily infects the cells of bats, and can also enter human cells if special mutations are contained. There is only a delay of having a mutation between bats and humans.
If this virus reaches any other animal from bats such as Mink or Civet (Wild Bilav), it will have mutations, after which the virus will be able to infect humans.
Experts have also expressed the danger of spreading this virus to humans from Chinese markets, as animals are kept in open and dirty conditions in these markets.

In India too, cases of Corona virus are increasing rapidly. According to the Health Department, the number of cases has increased by 58 times in the last 20 days. On May 16, there were 93 active cases of Kovid across the country, whose number has now reached 5364.
Corona has spread to 29 states and union territories. There have been 500 new cases in the last 24 hours. Kerala has the highest number of 1679 cases. This is followed by 615 active cases in Gujarat, 596 in West Bengal, 592 in Delhi and 548 in Maharashtra.

JN1 variants weakens immunity
