NHPC Stock Price: The share of Navratna company NHPC shares may double in the next 4 years. Brokerage firm CLSA has expressed such hope. CLSA has upgraded the ratings for NHPC shares and has “High Convention Outpart”. Brokerage had earlier given the stock a “outperform” rating. However, the target price has been kept at Rs 117 per share, which is slightly less than the first target of Rs 120. Brokerage hopes that the price of NHPC shares will double in the next 4 years.
CLSA also said that the decline in NHPC shares in the last six months has given investors a cheaper opportunity to collect stock. NHPC shares gained 5 percent on 20 February. In the day, the price on BSE went up to Rs 78.98. The company’s market cap is Rs 79000 crore. The stock has seen a peak of Rs 118.45 so far. The price is 17 percent in a year.
2 times regulated equity expected in FY 2024-2028
CLSA wrote in its note that the introduction of Parvati 2 Hydro project increased the company’s regulated equity by 27 percent in the first quarter of the financial year. The NHPC has also planned to enter the regulated pump storage segment of low duration. It is planning to invest 84,000 crores to build a 20 GW pump storage capacity.
The CLSA expects 2 times regulated equity for NHPC in FY 2024-2028 as the big project is successful in the company will lead to the promotion of earning growth per share for the company. 5 out of 10 analysts who covers NHPC have rated “by” for shares, 2 called “hold”, while 3 have given “sale” ratings.

The NHPC announced an interim dividend of Rs 1.40 per share for FY 2024-25. The record date for this was February 13, 2025. The company made a net consolidated profit of Rs 330.13 crore in the October-December 2024 quarter. It is 47 percent less than a year ago from Rs 623.28 crore. The total income during the quarter rose slightly to Rs 2,616.89 crore, which was Rs 2,549.69 crore in the December 2023 quarter. The NHPC expenditure rose to Rs 2,217.51 crore, which was Rs 1,733.01 crore a year ago.
