Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has released its provisional pay-roll report for February 2025. A total of 16.1 lakh new members are added to it. This is an annual increase of 3.99% compared to February 2024. This figure indicates the increase in awareness about better employment opportunities and employee benefits.

How many subscribers connected to EPFO ​​in February?

In February 2025, about 7.39 lakh new subscribers were added to EPFO. According to the Ministry of Labor and Employment, “This number of new subscribers is the result of increasing jobs, awareness about employee benefits, and effective outreach programs of EPFO.”

The new subscribers for the EPFO ​​are those who join the organization for the first time. At the same time, in the NET Edition, along with the new subscribers, the members and withdrawal returned are counted again.

Members who return to EPFO

In February 2025, around 13.1 lakh members were re -joined, who had previously been out of EPFO. This figure is 11.85% higher on an annual basis.

According to the ministry, “These members, after changing the job, opted to join the institutes under the purview of EPFO ​​and decided to transfer their deposit amount instead of final settlement. This kept their long -term financial security.”

Youth participation in workforce

The age group of 18 to 25 years has still emerged as the largest part of the new members. 4.27 lakh members were added to this category, which is 57.71% of the total new subscribers. The ministry said, “This trend shows that most of the people joining the organized sector are young and are going to get jobs for the first time.”

Apart from this, in February 2025, the net pay-roll edition of this age group was around 6.78 lakhs, which is 3.01% more than the previous year.

Increase in women’s participation

In February 2025, around 2.08 lakh new female members were associated with EPFO, which is an increase of 1.26% on an annual basis. The total female net pay-roll edition was 3.37 lakhs, which is 9.23% higher than the previous year. The ministry said, “The increasing number of women members shows that there is a big change in the direction of diversity and inclusion in offices.”

Which state contributed the most?

State -wise analysis shows that 59.75% of the total net edition came from only five major states/union territories, ie about 9.62 lakh members.

Maharashtra played the biggest stake in it, with 20.90% contribution to the total net edition. Other major contributions were Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. Each of these stake was more than 5%.
