Born in Rajasthan
Born on 1941 on this day in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, Jagjit Singh took a training of music since childhood. In classical music, Jagjit Singh, who has been giving a edge to his voice since childhood, studied music from Ustad Jamal Khan and Pandit Chhaganlal Sharma. Here Jagjit Singh practiced singing like Khayal, Thumri and Dhrupad. After this, after studying from DAV College, he studied Masters from the University of Jaladhar. It is from here that Jagjit Singh got a chance to join All India Radio. Sung in a classical program of All India Radio and made it to the hearts of the people. In the year 1962, Jagjit Singh composed a welcome song and heard the then President Rajendra Prasad. After this, he came to Mumbai. Here in the 70th 80s, he used to sing Ghazal with his wife Chitra Singh. Here Jagjit made a lot of music and prepared his land as a great singer.
Kissing the pace of fame started shocking
Jagjit Singh had become a superstar singer in the 80s and there was a lot of demand for his ghazals from abroad including India. Jagjit Singh would go on stage with his wife Chitra Singh and make people happy. Jagjit Singh was very happy after reaching the special stage of fame, when a mountain of sorrows broke on him. In 1990, Jagjit Singh’s 18 -year -old son Vivek died in a motor car accident. The incident broke Jagjit and his wife Chitra completely. After this sorrow, Jagjit’s wife never returned to the stage again. Not only this, Jagjit’s ghazals also used to drip grief. After this incident, the sea of pain started in every song of Jagjit and whoever would not be able to listen without listening. Jagjit may be getting famous but never happy. The death of the young son took away all the laughter of Jagjit. After this Jagjit was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1998. In 2006, he was also awarded the Life Time Achievement Award. In 2011, Jagjit Singh was scheduled to schedule a concert with Ghulam Ali. But even before this concert, Jagjit Singh’s health deteriorated and this year he said goodbye to this world.
