Rohit Shetty and circus team
The entire country was affected by the Covid-19 lockdown. Offices and businesses were closed and the Hindi film industry was also adversely affected by the bandh. During this time, seeing his team members unable to work and his savings draining, Rohit Shetty decided to make his 2022 film Circus with Ranveer Singh. Writer Yunus Sajawal has revealed this. Yunus told that the film crew was facing financial problems due to work. Due to this, Rohit Shetty had created Circus to help.
Writer Yunus Sajawal told the whole story
Famous writer Yunus Sajawal, while recently speaking to Digital Commentary, talked about Rohit Shetty’s kindness and affection towards his team. Yunus shared that the filmmaker’s release of Sooryavanshi had to be put on hold when the lockdown continued. Then in April he called the production to book the popular Mehboob Studios for September because he wanted to make an indoor film. “He basically made that film just for his unit,” Younes said. The Singham Again filmmaker told him that even if he did not work for two years, it was okay. But what will happen to the people of his unit? Since no one was working and only exhausting their savings, Shetty wanted to make a studio-based film so that the unit’s families and households could run smoothly.
Having said this, Yunus also talked about hiring junior artistes and paying everyone on time. The writer said, ‘He would never tell this to anyone, he took it upon himself to consider the film a failure.’ According to Yunus Sajawal, despite working in rotation due to the restriction of 100 people, Rohit used to pay salaries to all 500 people. At that time every junior artiste had checkups and vaccinations and all of them were hired for four months and were paid even if the shooting was stopped. Circus also featured Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun Sharma.
The film was a flop at the box office
However, this film of Rohit Shetty flopped at the box office. According to reports, the budget of the film was Rs 150 crore. But the film’s collection was reduced to Rs 50 crore. Due to which the producers had to suffer a loss of Rs 100 crore.
