The Central Government is going to run a special campaign “Employees’ Enrollment Campaign 2025” from November 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026, the aim of which is to connect lakhs of employees with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) who were employed between July 1, 2017 to October 31, 2025, but due to some reason could not become a part of the EPF scheme. This initiative will attempt to bring formality in the employment sector by increasing the scope of Hariyali protection.
The specialty of this campaign is that employers will be able to enroll such employees who were not registered in EPF. If their share has not been deducted from the employee’s salary, the government will waive the employee’s share of the contribution, while the employer will have to pay its share. Also, employers will have to pay only a nominal penal fee of Rs 100, making the initiative attractive and simple on a large scale.
A similar campaign was successful in 2017 in which employees who left between 2009-2016 were also included in the EPF. This broadened the scope of social security and now it is expected that the new campaign will benefit even more employees. Additionally, employers who register new employees under this campaign can also avail various benefits under the Pradhan Mantri-Vikas Bharat Rojgar Yojana.
This step of the government will increase transparency in the employment sector, workers will get the security cover of provident fund, and it will also be a relief incentive for employers. With the online enrollment process becoming easier and faster, more employees and employers will be able to take advantage of it. This initiative is a major step towards officially bringing long-missed workers into formal protection, thereby strengthening social security and economic inclusion. The government hopes that this campaign will usher in a new era in the labor world, where social security benefits will be ensured to every employee.
