The Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 was passed late at night after a hot debate in Parliament on Thursday. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said, ‘Yes, 128 and no 95 votes were cast, absent zero people remained. The bill has been passed. The Muslim Waqf (Relations) Bill, 2024 has also been passed in Parliament. All MPs in the House remained sitting for more than midnight to pass the bill.

Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the opposition parties of trying to mislead people on the Waqf Amendment Bill. He said that crores of people of the Muslim community will benefit from this. Responding to the debate on the bill for more than 12 hours on the bill in the Rajya Sabha, Rijiju said that several suggestions made by the Joint Parliamentary Committee have been included in the amended bill.
The Waqf Amendment Bill was changed to name ‘hope’

Bill introduced after recommendations of Parliamentary Committee
The government introduced the amended bill after incorporating the recommendations of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, which investigated the law presented in August last year.
