
India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar
Iran’s Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi has visited India amid tension in India and Pakistan. In a bilateral meeting with his counterpart, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that you have come to India at a time when we are responding to the brutal attack in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April. The attack forced us to respond on 7 May by attacking a terrorist structure across the border.
S Jaishankar further said, “Our response was targeted and napi-tuli. Our intention is not to spoil the situation. However, if we are military attacks, there should be no doubt that it will be given a very strict answer. It is important as a neighbor and close partner. It is important as you have a good understanding of the situation.”

Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “I am very happy to welcoming you and your delegation in India today and co-Chairman of the 20th India-Iran Joint Commission meeting with you. Let us know that Aragachi is coming to India to co-head the 20th Joint Commission meeting between India and Iran. This is the first visit of Iranian Foreign Minister to India after taking over in August 2024. The talks between the two foreign ministers were also expected to discuss the increasing tension between India and Pakistan.
