The year 2024 has passed and the new year i.e. 2025 has started. Last year was a mixed year for Team India. Team India achieved a great feat by winning the T20 World Cup title after 17 years but could not win even a single match in ODI. Apart from this, Team India also faced its biggest defeat at home in the year 2024. New Zealand cricket team defeated Team India 3-0 in the 3-match test series. In this way the New Zealand team was successful in winning the Test series for the first time on Indian soil. At the same time, for the first time, India had to face a clean sweep in a 3-match Test series at home. After this, Team India reached Australia tour where it started with a win but lost 2 of the next 3 matches and lagged behind in the series. Team India said goodbye to the year 2024 with a crushing defeat in the Melbourne Test.
Big miracle happened for the first time in test
The year 2024 may not have been anything special for Team India, but the last year was very successful for Test cricket. A total of 53 test matches were played in the year 2024, out of which only 3 matches were drawn. That means the results of 50 out of 53 matches were out. This is the first time in the 148-year history of Test cricket that the result of 50 Test matches has been declared in a calendar year. You will be surprised to know that before this only three times more than 50 Test matches were played in a calendar year. 55 test matches were organized in the year 2001, 54 in the year 2002 and 51 in 2004.
3 Boxing Day Tests played simultaneously
Three Boxing Day Test matches were played later this year. The first Boxing Day Test match was played between India and Australia in Melbourne, while the second Boxing Day Test match saw South Africa and Pakistan face to face. At the same time, the third Boxing Day Test was played on the soil of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe and Afghanistan clashed in this test. In the year 2024, England was the team that won the most Test matches with 9 wins. At the same time, India was the second highest Test winning team. India played 15 test matches, out of which it won 8. Team India had to face defeat in 6 matches while one match was a draw.
